Internationella Engelska Skolan (IES) is a leading independent school group ("friskola") with academic results far above average and a diverse and energetic staff. IES Älvsjö is a school for grades 4-9 with approx. 760 students and a staff body of about 80 members. The school is situated very close to Stockholm city center with direct access from the pendeltåg station.
We are now looking for a qualified teacher for Years 7-9:
- Science (cover for parental leave starting mid-March, continuing next academic year)
Included in the work description, aside from common teacher tasks such as planning, teaching, marking and follow-ups, is mentorship for 16 students in one of the year levels that you teach. You have to be available for meetings with parents, students or colleagues and to actively work towards maintaining the IES Ethos and vision. We need a clear classroom management and visible leadership during lessons and and open communication between teacher and students. Focus lies on learning and a calm environment and the schools routines and rules are followed by students and staff alike.

You can differentiate your teaching to reach different students and can work inclusively with different special needs students in cooperation with Student Care and Special Educators. Continuous feedback to students and parents with feedback on progress and needs for improvement is a must and has to take time and be a natural part of your teaching. We are looking someone with a Teaching Degree / Bachelor of Education, feel comfortable with teaching students 13-15 years of age in an international work environment.
